Peak Item Tier List

X Tier/Achievement
Bing Bong
Best boy. He deserves the world.
Bugle
Doot doot.
Scroll
Doesn't really spawn that often but when they do, they have some useful tips.
S Tier
Honeycomb
Best food item in the game, even better when cooked. When broken, they break into multiple pieces all with the same effect. Throwing a useless item at it and running to wait for the bees to scatter is easy access. What's not to love about these things?
Chain Cannon
One of the best traversal items available (downgraded to a mid-A Tier on Ascent 6+). You can skip past entire sections of a level with one usage, all while having a bit of stamina left over to keep climbing.
Anti-Rope Spool
Equally good as, if not better than, the chain cannon. Adjustable free upward climbs that can be placed anywhere. Pretty common spawn item too from wherever rare items spawn.
Faerie Lantern
Extremely utilitarian healing item that degrades nearly every ailment over time. Same burnout time as a regular lantern, but the extra utility is hard to ignore.
Cure-All
Personally, my favorite consumable item. Multiple charges to immediately and instantly cure anything and everything wrong with you. Spawns often enough to be useful too.
A Tier
Remedy Shroom
Clutchiest item in the game by far, only misses S Tier due to how unreliable it can be when playing solo. Rises to S Tier in multiplayer.
Airline Food
Really good food item that buffs up both hunger and extra stamina. Can never really turn away from it unless you're going for the Naturalist badge. Spawn rate is slightly underwhelming personally, however.
Sports Drink
Solid extra stamina source that spawns fairly regularly in briefcases, though there are slightly better options. Again, avoid if you are going for the Natrualist badge.
Anti-Rope Cannon
Useful traversal item a grade lower than the ant-rope spool, as any free upward movement is going to be rated highly. Spawns slightly less often than I personally like. Moves up to low S Tier when on Ascent 6+
Purple Kingberry
Weirdly beneficial item for where and how often it spawns. Free extra stamina and lots of hunger replenishment, and spawns in clusters and sometimes in multiple places on Tropics.
Energy Drink
Very useful boost in stamina usage, most often enough to get you past lengths of climbs that were impossible without it. Never a bad pick unless you can't stomach the lethargy hit afterward.
Cursed Skull
The definition of sacrificing yourself for the greater good. Only really applicable when you're the last climber alive in multiplayer, in which case it's an excellent item. Otherwise, useless.
Granola Bar
Free, inoffensive boost to hunger and extra stamina that spawns regularly in briefcases. Can't go wrong.
Heat Pack
Only really has a place on Alpine, but does it ever come in clutch. You can survive two blizzards on one charge, and it doesn't have much inventory burden when in use. Doubly crucial on Ascent 5.
Shelf Shroom
Easy to pick up and apply, naturally spawning platform that can find usage anywhere. Not really a long term practical choice, but can be very helpful in the right moments.
Scout Cookies
Free, four charge addition to extra stamina and hunger to be used whenever you want. I certainly won't turn that down, even if it doesn't spawn that often.
Rope Cannon
Basically a downgraded version of the anti-rope cannon. Can find usage in certain areas where an extended climb is necessary, but for the most part you should be able to climb most things until Ascent 6. Moves up to high A-tier on Ascent 6.
B Tier
Yellow Winterberry
A welcome boost to hunger and extra stamina, but spawns very infrequently on Alpine.
Bandage
Ol' reliable heal item. The lesser version of a medkit, but spawns often enough to be of use sometimes when injured.
Brown Berrynana
The best regular food item on Tropics to boost hunger and extra stamina, but suffers from being scattered and being not as plentiful as a yellow berrynana.
Half-Coconut
Basic food item of Shore and the beginning of Tropics. Highly ranked in B Tier as it comes in pairs.
Yellow Clusterberry
Best version of the Clusterberry collection with boosts to hunger and stamina, but all clusterberries are here as they spawn very infrequently.
Magic Bean
Can help you climb up to certain platforms higher up, but doesn't feature a standable surface and takes stamina itself to climb. Spawns infrequently as well.
Red Clusterberry
The healing variant of clusterberries and can be of use when found, but there are better healing items and it doesn't spawn very much.
Orange Winterberry
Best hunger option for Alpine and can be helpful when you're a bit injured, but otherwise very standard and nothing remarkable unless you're suffering a lot from hunger.
Marshmallow
Reliable spawning food item at each campfire, but ONLY available there.
Black Clusterberry
Best clusterberry variant to restore hunger but again, spawns very infrequently and there are better options by the time you get to Tropics.
Scorchberry
Not useful in the slightest on any difficulty under Ascent 5. Better options that don't unecessarily burn you too. Moves up to high-A Tier on Ascent 5+.
Lantern
Heat source item mainly finding use in Alpine, but there are better options like the heat pack. Moves up to mid-A Tier on Ascent 5+.
Rope Spool
Absolutely useless when playing solo, but can be a very useful item when playing in multiplayer, though it loses its luster when everyone can easily climb up surfaces instead.
Yellow Crispberry
Small but mighty boost to extra stamina early on. Foundational on Shore, but doesn't show up again later on.
Yellow Berrynana
Standard food item on Tropics. Not bad as a hunger replenisher, but other options exist too.
Blue Berrynana
More hunger replenishment, but spawns a bit less often than the yellow variant.
Green Kingberry
Just as solid a food item as the blue berrynana, but with the downside of poisoning yourself too. No thanks.
Medicinal Root
A jack of all trades sort of healing item, but doesn't spawn very often and has limited applicability for the ailments it heals.
Bugle of Friendship
AOE infinite stamina to nearby climbers. Essentially a group lollipop, but requires someone to be actively playing it in range for it to be of use. Other stamina/traversal options exist.
Tick
A surprisingly big source of food if allowed to grow to such a size, but requires active poison mitigation for it to be of any use. Better to just get rid of it once you can.
C Tier
Trail Mix
The most inoffensive extra stamina boost you can find. Very little in its effect, and not plentiful enough.
Pirate's Compass
Guides players to briefcases, but I mean... use your eyes? Doesn't spawn often either.
Piton
Can be a savior in circumstances where you just need to chill out on a wall, but not something to rely on too much. There are better traversal options in my opinion.
Blowgun
I don't really want to put a friend to sleep just to heal ailments that can be cured in a lot of other, non-intrusive ways.
Napberry
I don't really want to put MYSELF to sleep just to heal ailments that can be cured in a lot of other, non-intrusive ways. Only spawns on Alpine too.
Scout Effigy
Only of use in multiplayer, only revives one other climber, and doesn't really spawn that often. Certainly can be useful, but only in a specific circumstance.
Chubby Shroom
Best version of the non-toxic mushrooms, but only really has one or two spawn patches and is eclipsed by other food sources.
Yellow Kingberry
Big food restorer, but also a big poison source. Not really worth it considering other better items exist in Tropics.
Portable Stove
Probably the least useful source of cooking that you can find that isn't a campfire. Can be very useful for Ascent 5+ if you ever come across it, but better options exist. Doesn't spawn very often.
Antidote
Healing item specifically for poison, which can be useful in a pinch if you need poison removed immediately, but you can easily just walk off poison. Just be careful next time, yeah?
Bugle Shroom - Safe
Tiny, inoffensive food item on Shore. Can keep your hunger up just enough, but shouldn't be looked at as a reliable food option unless you're REALLY struggling.
Coconut
Split it open for the better version of it. Otherwise nearly useless in this state. Only spawns on Shore and the beginning of Tropics.
Button Shroom - Safe
Another mushroom variant that gives one tick more of hunger restoration, but spawns slightly less often than other mushrooms.
Cluster Shroom - Safe
The tiniest hunger solution on Shore. Spawns the most, but not enough to be looked at as a long term food source.
Red Crispberry
As basic a food item as you can get. Spawns a lot initially, but only on Shore. You'll move on quickly.
Egg
Only spawns on Caldera, and you should have a solid food solution by the time you get there. Useful only when you have literally no other food items and lots of hunger to deal with.
D Tier
Lollipop
Infinite stamina, but for a smaller amount of time as the energy drink (a much better stamina boost) and delivers a massive lethargy hit afterward. Can really mess up your bar if there's other afflictions present. Too dangerous and obsolete a pick for me.
Flare
Its one use is to signal the helicopter to get you off the mountain. That's it. You could use it as a heat source on Alpine, but do you really want to rely on that above a heat pack, scorchberry, and/or even a lantern?
Big Egg
Only spawns on Caldera, and is the unbroken version thus not as useful. Can't even throw it at anything except the lava.
Compass
Points north, which in this game is always at the Peak™. No other uses, so just takes up inventory space.
Affronts Unto the Lord
Scoutmaster's Bugle
You are literally summoning a threat for the sole purpose of making your life (and maybe even your other climbers' lives) harder. Just spawn him normally by going much further ahead of your teammates, even if you're going for the achievement. Maybe if you're doing it for laughs. Maybe.
Cluster Shroom - Bad
Cluster Shrooms but with frills on the stems. Restores a bit of hunger, but applies nearly three times that much poison too. No upsides here. Toss these.
Green Crispberry
A worse version of the bad Cluster Shroom. Applies a bit less poison but for how often it spawns, HARD avoid.
Bugle Shroom - Bad
A medium-threat mushroom variant with extended veiny stems compared to the safe version. Just a solid avoid whenever you spot them option for mushrooms.
Pink Berrynana
This is more of an emotional pick for me. Actively useless and harmful pick in Tropics, like an extremely bruised apple in a pile of perfect Fuji apples.
Pandora's Lunchbox
Might be the worst item in the game as far as practicality, maybe overall. Does infinitely more harm than good when you find it whenever it spawns, and every other positive effect it can have on your bar can easily be remedied by other items. Just simply not worth it in any circumstance.
Button Shroom - Bad
Only here at the bottom because of its spawn rate compared to other toxic mushrooms. Doesn't spawn often and when it does, it's almost as bad as a bad Cluster Shroom. Not worth it in any circumstance.
